The real test for evidence technology isn't a benchmark score. It's an adversarial proceeding where a motivated party attacks the process behind every output. We designed Verdictums by working backward from that moment.

Deterministic outputs

Run it twice, get the same answer twice, and prove it.

Every engagement pins its model versions. Processing the same file under the same pin produces byte-identical output, which you can verify by comparing hashes. When opposing counsel asks whether the analysis is repeatable, you can show them rather than assure them.

Pillar II

Chain of custody

Every touch on every file, written down where it can’t be quietly changed.

From the intake hash to the final export, each operation is appended to a hash-chained audit log. If anyone alters the record, the chain breaks and the break is visible. The log shows what was processed, when, by which model version, and what came out. That is the procedural backbone an admissibility argument rests on.

Pillar III

Structural citations

A finding without a source can’t exist in the output.

Citations aren’t metadata we add when it’s convenient. They are part of the output schema itself. Document findings cite the page and line; media findings cite the frame and second. Counsel can pull up the exact source in front of the court without an intermediate search.

Why a hallucination here is disqualifying, not just inconvenient.

In most AI products, an occasional fabrication is a quality issue you fix in the next release. In evidence work it ends the tool's credibility and can put the case at risk. One invented citation surfaced on the stand casts doubt on every other output the same system produced. That's why we treat determinism, custody, and citation as architecture rather than features. The bar isn't “usually right.” It's “provably sourced, every time.”
